About the Seed Exchange

The Seed Exchange is for all you seed savers out there, a place where our grassroots seed conservation movement takes shape. This is a place to swap not only seeds, but ideas. Have you selected a unique variant that you would like someone else to try? Norman Borlaug, while unwittingly the father of the Green Revolution, used shuttle breeding (what we wish to do here) to develop varieties with broad adaptation. By exposing your selections to multiple environments, it is feasible to build greater resilience and diversity across landscapes. You will discover how exciting it is to hear about how a variety performs in other locales, and, hey we might learn something new, too, along the way!

“Keep your eyes open,” said Dogen, a Zen monk from Japan. “ Do not allow even one grain of rice to be lost. Wash the rice thoroughly, put it in the pot, light the fire, and cook it. See the pot as your own head; see the water as your lifeblood. Clarify and harmonize life with work and do not lose sight of either the theoretical or the practical. Handle even a single leaf in such a way that it manifests the body of the Buddha. This in turn allows the Buddha to manifest through the leaf.”

If you are interested in participating in the exchange, please fill out the form below and we will get back to you with login information.

Using the Seed Exchange

Once logged in you are able to post your seeds and interact with other members also wanting to exchange seed. Check out the available posts about the seeds currently available.

In time, as this initiative grows, we hope to register varieties shared here, along with production location and a description of the grower and offer this information in our Plant and Seed Information Library.

Please contact us with any questions or problems you encounter.
